In order to fulfill our responsibility as a corporate citizen of the world, we engage in simple yet realistic CSR activities by starting where we can.

For many years now, as a token of our ongoing
gratitude to Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture and its
citizens, we have made donations to Art Tower
Mito (ATM), a contemporary art complex. We also
co-sponsor performances of the Mito Chamber
Orchestra, the exclusive in-house orchestra of ATM.

We support the purpose of the Japanese Red Cross
Society, which is engaged in humanitarian activities
in a wide range of fields, and make donations every
year. The Japanese Red Cross Society states that
their mission is to “protect human life, health and
dignity whatever the circumstances,” and they are
engaged in medical operations, rescue work and
relief work for conflicts and disasters.

We have introduced a system that provides our
employees with the flexibility to design their own
career path by choosing to become either careertrack
employees or non-transferrable employees*.
Moreover, we are continuously improving employee
working conditions with measures such as promoting
the employment of people with disabilities;
enhancing support for female staff by introducing
special pre-birth maternity leave and providing a
childcare allowance, etc.; and providing a relocation
allowance and company-leased housing.

Hoping to have the future work force learn the
importance and excitement of work, we host
experiential work-placement for junior high school
and high school students. We did this a total of
four times in fiscal 2010 and were honored by the
participation of many students.

Part of the proceeds from sales of our sample
products are donated to Peshawar-kai, which is
engaged in various humanitarian activities in Pakistan
and Afghanistan; The Children’s Cancer Association
of Japan, which supports children battling cancer
and their families; and Make-A-Wish of Japan, which
makes dreams come true for children with hard-tocure
diseases.

Nepalese stoles, which have a lot of fans among our
customers, are one of the staple items sold every
year at GLOBAL WORK stores. Each one of them is
handmade by people in Nepal. As a token of our
appreciation for their work, we donated a portion of
our revenue from the sales of stoles to help improve
education in the country.

As part of the JEANASIS 10th Anniversary campaign,
Sai-Shoku Shugi (Be Wise, Live Smart), we conducted
"One of a Kind Book Cover" charity auctions and
sold "Charity '10' T-Shirts." A portion of proceeds
from the sales was donated to the Japan Arts Council
to support the promotion of various arts and
cultural activities.
